Directions From within the Northeast/New England
From New York Metro Area: (via New York State)
Take the New York Thruway (87) north to exit 24 (Albany). After tollbooth
bear right and continue on the Northway (Montreal North 87) to Exit
20 (Fort Ann). At the end of the ramp take a left at the traffic light.
Take a right at the next traffic light onto route 149 East. Proceed
on route 149 East to Fort Ann (about 15 minutes). At the traffic light
in Fort Ann, take a left onto Route 4 East. Proceed on Route 4 East,
bearing right at the traffic light in Whitehall (this will keep you
on Route 4 East). Once in Vermont, take Exit 2 off of Route 4, (Vergennes-Fair
Haven) and proceed north on route 22A to Vergennes (approx. 60 miles).
Take Route 7 North and follow into Burlington (see map).
From New York Metro Area: (via Connecticut and Massachusetts)
Take Interstate 95 East through New York State into Connecticut. When
you reach New Haven, CT, take 91 North. 91 North will take you through
Massachusetts and into Vermont. In White River Junction, VT, take
89 North; follow for 90 miles to Burlington. Take exit 14W. Lake
Champlain Ferry Crossings from New York State:
In addition to the directions outlined above, three ferries (some
seasonal) service the region.
- Plattsburgh, NY to Grand Isle, VT: Open year-round
- Port Kent, NY to Burlington, VT: Runs late spring to early fall
- Essex, NY to Charlotte, VT: Runs late spring to late fall

From Hartford Connecticut:
91 North will take you through Massachusetts into Vermont. In White
River Junction VT, take 89 North, follow for 90 miles to Burlington.
Take exit 14W.
From Boston:
Take 93 North up through Massachusetts into New Hampshire. In Concord
look for 89 North. Follow 89 North into Burlington (approximately
90 miles from White River Jct., VT). Take exit 14W. |
